Agreement between the Spanish Golf Association (RFEG), the Regional Associations, Acciona and NetJuice Capital.

  • The project promoted by the RFEG, the Regional Federations and Acciona is joining forces with the Netjuice Capital golf portal to become a single project: Golfspain.com

  • Golfspain.com will bring together the golf-related Internet activities of the Spanish Association, the Regional Associations, Acciona and Netjuice Capital.

  • The company has initial financial resources totalling more than 1000 million pesetas for its activities.

Golfspain.com (www.golfspain.com), the leading website for golf-related services partly owned by Netjuice Capital, has reached an agreement with the Spanish Golf Association, the Regional Associations and Acciona to combine their golf-related activities on Internet, by investing in Portal Golf Gestión, S.A., a company promoted by the Associations and Acciona.

Golfspain.com currently has more than 500,000 pages viewed every month, 90 golf courses affiliated to the on-line booking system, the Call & Play card and a golf course management software installed in more than 100 Spanish clubs.

Thanks to this agreement Golfspain.com is strengthening and guaranteeing its position of leadership in the sector. In addition to the services which it already offers such as the on-line booking of green fees, the contracting of tourism-related services, current affairs content and information, the purchasing of sports equipment, etc., the new Golfspain.com will offer users all of the services of the Royal Spanish Golf Association and Regional Associations which a golfing enthusiast could wish for.

In order to integrate and develop these new activities Golfspain.com has initial financial resources totalling more than 1000 million pesetas.

The company promoted by the RFEG, the Regional Associations and Acciona will have a 72.5% stake in the capital of the future merged company, while the company owned by Netjuice Capital will own the other 27.5% of the company.

In the words of Santiago Arpón de Mendívil, Director General of the new Golfspain.com: "The joining together of both projects will without doubt make Golfspain.com the strongest project in the sector, both financially and operationally. The knowledge of the world of golf brought by the RFEG and Regional Associations together with the entrepreneurial, technical and financial ability of Acciona and the Internet experience and know-how of Netjuice Capital, will make www.golfspain.com the key player in the golf and Internet sector in Spain. Our aim is to offer the best services both to players and to courses and other organisations related to the world of golf, thereby encouraging and facilitating the playing and promotion of the sport, and making www.golfspain.com the central reference point for the sector".

Since its creation in 1997, Golfspain.com has consolidated its position as the leading golf site in Spain by offering all of the services which golfers could require. To this end it has reached important agreements with Turespaña, Strokesaver and AESGOLF, to name but a few, and bought up some of the leading companies in the sector such as Call&Play and Mastergolf.
